Satan Worshipping Doom

Do you work with anyone in a band called Bongripper? Well, I do, and yesterday he walked in and handed me a copy of this:

While Satan Worshipping Doom is Bongripper’s sixth release, it’s the first they’ve released on vinyl, and art-wise, they took full advantage of the extra inches.  It is a brutal (in the best way possible) full-color mess of blood, fire, demons, goats, tentacles and all manner of other evil shit.

Heavy Pop – Wu Lyf

Wu Lyf - Heavy Pop

While the hype-to-music ratio of Manchester’s mysterious WU LYF has been debated by many blogs before us, I’m definitely buying into it. There’s a certain excitement to the complete lack of discernible information surrounding them (hype) that reminds me of purchasing 4AD and Factory records on cover alone. Thankfully, Heavy Pop stands up to the package (so much that I dropped $25 to, I think, purchase a 12″ from the band… though I’m not entirely sure) So, have I just bought into it all? Maybe, but either way I’m liking WU LYF.

More (very little) info is available (hidden) on their Myspace and Facebook pages, and even more (less, actually) can be found on their official site,

There are some serious gems in there so be sure to check out their whole archive, then throw some B.R. Chopra movies on your Netflix queue and call it a day.

RVNG comes to those who wait

Well, the folks who were unable to secure a copy of Purple Brain, the insane mix CD + 7″ from the equally-insane-minds of Andre Bumrocks and Jason Convict!, released last June are in luck. The fine people at RVNG International recently unearthed exactly 56 copies of this mindbender of a mix, complete with the purple 7″ and the 22″ x 30″ poster.

Autechre “Oversteps,” Deluxe Vinyl Edition

Autechre Oversteps

Last month, British duo Autechre released their 10th album, Oversteps on longtime home Warp records. Longtime visual collaborator(s) The Designers Republic was once again tapped for the artwork. After the unfortunate news of the Republic having closed its doors as a “studio” in 2009, it’s fantastic to see founder Ian Anderson again throwing out compelling work.
